4-Phase Program Structure

Each phase uses a different training stimulus — bells, body lines, complexes — so you build without plateauing.

1
Weeks 1-2 · Light bells, controlled tempo, baseline every pattern

Foundation

Learn the patterns that carry the program. KB Swing locks in the hip hinge engine. Push-Up, Hollow Hold, and Dead Hang build the trunk. Negative Pull-Ups teach your back how to hang. Every rep is controlled — the baseline you build this week is real.

2
Weeks 3-4 · Heavier bells + KB Clean, Figure 8, Archer Push-Ups, Wall Handstand

Build

Heavier Swings under tempo. KB Clean and Figure 8 enter the rotation. Push-Ups bridge to Archer Push-Ups — the single-arm progressive loading. Negative Pull-Ups become unbroken Pull-Ups for many. Wall Handstand Hold begins building the shoulder stability no bench press matches.

Weeks 5-6 · Peak loads, Bottoms-Up Press, Turkish Get-Up, Weighted Pull-Ups

Strength

Peak bell loads on Swings, Snatches, and Sumo Deadlifts. Bottoms-Up Press and Turkish Get-Up join the rotation — total-body sequencing under load. Handstand holds grow. The first Weighted Pull-Up attempts begin. This is where the program starts to feel earned.

Weeks 7-8 · Devil Press complexes, Muscle-Up attempts, peak conditioning

Test

Devil Press complexes test every quality at once. Snatch peaks. Handstand holds measured in minutes. Muscle-Up attempts — strict false-grip swing into pull-and-press. You will know exactly how strong you have become. This is the version of you that started Week 1 with light swings and a 20-second Dead Hang.

Why Kettlebell + Calisthenics?

Two tools, every athletic quality covered.

🔔

One Kettlebell, Total-Body

Swings, Cleans, Snatches, Presses, Rows, Get-Ups — a single bell trains every movement pattern that matters. No racks required, no excuses about equipment.

🏋️

Grip Strength That Travels

After 8 weeks of carries, halos, figure-8s, and bottoms-up presses, your grip is a competitive advantage. Harder grip means heavier lifts, longer holds, more control.

🤸

Calisthenics, Not Cardio

Push-Ups, Pull-Ups, Hollow Rocks, Handstand Holds — every strength pattern. Build visible muscle and real body control without ever touching a dumbbell curl.

🔥

Built-In Conditioning

Devil Presses. Snatch complexes. 8×20 Swing ladders. Conditioning shows up automatically in the program — no separate cardio block required.

🪢

Pull-Up Bar Is Enough

Doorway bar, freestanding bar, garage bar — they all unlock the upper body changes. Negative Pull-Ups in Week 1 → real Pull-UPs in Phase 2 → Weighted Pull-UPs by Week 7.

📱

App-Tracked Progression

Every rep, every set, every PR logged. The exercise swap feature covers anything you can't do — substitute Knees-to-Chest Hanging Raises for Toes-to-Bar if needed.

Common Questions

What kettlebell weight should I start with? +

Women typically start at 8-12 kg, men at 12-20 kg. The right weight is one you can Press 10 unilateral reps with strict form and Swing unbroken for 20 reps. If your form breaks, the bell is too heavy. Light enough to be flawless beats heavy enough to be sloppy.

Can I do this program without a pull-up bar? +

Not really — the pull-up progression is half the program. A doorway bar (~$30) is the cheapest entry. If you can't yet do a single Pull-Up, the program builds to your first one in Phase 2 via Scapular Pull-Ups and Negative Pull-Ups.

Is this program strength or conditioning? +

Both. Heavy Snatch and Sumo Deadlift weeks train strength under tempo. Devil Press complexes and 8×20 Swing ladders train conditioning. The blends are intentional: real athletes need both and a program that pretends otherwise stays one-dimensional.

Will I lose size compared to a barbell program? +

You may lose some peak arm and chest size if that was a priority. You will likely gain functional strength, grip, posterior chain development, upper-back density, and conditioning that no barbell program can match. The trade is the point — this is the program for athletes, not bodybuilders.

Can beginners run this? +

It's rated Intermediate. If you're brand new, run Strength Foundations or Hybrid Starter first to establish baseline strength. If you can already do 5 strict Push-Ups, hang from a bar for 30 seconds, and have touched a kettlebell, you can start Steel Body in Week 1.
